7th Anibar Goes Environmental, Presents Spain and Colombian Animation Programme

270 short films, 3 feature films and 42 (!) programs. This is the outcome of the 7th edition of Anibar (Peja, Kosovo, 15-21 August 2016), which this year concentrates on the environment.

The festival is  treating the phenomenon of global warming and climate change through the projections of animations which interpret human interactions with this global phenomenon.

Curators  Jeanne Boukraa (winner of last year's Anibar) and Georges Legonidec, joint creators of the festival's trailer stressonce again the need to balance technological necessities with a more responsible lifestyle. Here's their very descriptive joint effort:

Selected films will be competing in International, Student, Balkan, Environmental, Animated Music Videos, Worldwide Panorama and Kids & Teen competitions. Besides the prizes that will be given for each one of these categories, this year the festival gives e away the prize for the best cause treated by a film, as well as the audience prize.

In connection with the theme of the festival, a special program curated by Jiri Nedel called "Global Warming in Animation" will provide films that deal with the topic of climate change through animation.

 

Other special programs meet the broad creative and very important specter where animation belongs, such as "Introduction to animated music videos" curated by Tomek Ducki.

The international cooperation between ANIBAR and NonStop Animation Film Fest (Spain)/ Bogoshorts Short Film Fest (Columbia) has resulted in the "Focus in Spain and Columbia" program that consists of some film programs and a series of presentations about animation industry in these countries and the possibility of gaining experience from these examples.

Programs such as "Spanish and Catalan Animation" and "Colombian Animation" will be screened as a result of this cooperation.

New Talents – Visegrad Forum is the selection of films created by young filmmakers of the Visegrad countries, with the aim of promoting their work internationally in festivals with the widest possible audience.

"How to live a creative animated life?" is one of the most special presentations about the life of Ward Kimball, one of the most influential animators in the film world.

Kimball's work will be presented by the American historian Amid Amid, who will illustrate the resistance of the animator to remain original despite the impact of Walt Disney company.

Celia Bullwinkel with the presentation 'Viral Operation: How to promote your film online' will show us how her first film "Sidewalk" was screened in 25 festivals and was clicked more than 5 million times online.

Spain producer Toni Marin Vila will talk (3 masterclasses) about the animation industry in Spain, co-productions, and about his film "Wrinkles"  (Arrugas) -and its transformation from a comic book into a film.

The segment 'Meet the Filmmakers' will be held everyday where filmmakers of screened films will communicate with the public. The education about animation this year will be accomplished through five workshops. Traditional partners Ottomani from Italy will have two workshops for kids under 18, while two other workshops will be focused on Kosovar animators with the aim to help their professional development. The fifth workshop will focus in developing the technique of drawing with charcoal and the use of charcoal in animation.

One the workshops guided by Toni Marin Villaaims to help Kosovar filmmakers who are stuck in completing their work. Technical support, professional advice, improvement of technical skills, and general help in production and the finishing of their film.

In the Anibar After Parties program, bands and DJs are awaiting participants in the Karagaq park will be filled every night with selected music.
