Festival Description:

Go Short is the main short film festival in the Netherlands. During the five festival days Europe’s best recent short films will be screened and the Go Short Awards will be presented. Aside from the competitions Go Short offers an extensive program of events, talks, workshops, parties and meeting points for the film makers, the public and other stakeholders.

The Go Short foundation aims to contribute to deepening and expanding the short film culture, nationally and internationally, by means of organizing an annual international film festival for short films. Go Short is founded on the principles of the Cultural Governance Code and consists of a board and two directors. The foundation has been registered as a charitable institution (ANBI in Dutch).

2023 Call for Entries (Archive)

    European, Dutch and Student Competition
For the European Competition we accept short fiction, documentary, animation and art films that have been made in (geographical) Europe. The films are eligible for the Go Short Award for Best European Short in three different categories (Live-action, Animation and Documentary).

The Dutch Competition is a selection of films made in the Netherlands, from which the best film will be awarded with the Go Short Award for Best Dutch Short.

Go Short is a recognized film festival for the Academy Awards, the European Film Awards and the BAFTA.

The Student Competition will consist of short fiction, documentary, animation and art films made in European film schools. The best film will be awarded with an Encouragement Award. Go Short is recognized by the Student Academy Awards. Please find the rules here: https://www.oscars.org/saa/apply

Films in the European, Dutch and Student Competition are competing for the Audience Award.

    • Deadline: 23 December 2022

Music Video Competition & XR films
Go Short happily receives international music videos for their Music Video Competition and offers the possibility to submit XR films. More information can be found in the regulations.

    • Deadlines: 23 December 2022 (XR films) and 1 January 2023 (Music Video Competition)

    Works in Progress
Go Short is looking for work-in-progress projects (from development stage to rough-cut) that don’t fit in the regular call-for-entries; think about multi-screen films, XR projects, installations, episodical content, interactive online films, (narrative) video games or anything meant for outside the classical screening room. We offer you network meetings with programmers, feedback sessions and are happy to listen to other specific needs that could help your project.
