The Pirates! Band of Misfits, Leconte's Suicide Shop at Cartoon Movie, Lyon

 British studio Aardman will unveil several film clips from the long anticipated feature "The Pirates! Band of Misfits" during a presentation at Cartoon Movie. "Pirates!" will be Aardman's first clay animation feature in stereoscopic 3D. The voice cast includes a slew of international stars, Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson, Martin Freeman, David Tennant, Imelda Staunton and Jeremy Piven.

 The stop motion film is directed by Academy Award nominee Peter Lord, Aardman's co-founder and co-director of "Chicken Run". "Pirates!" is due for release in cinemas on the 28 March 2012 in the U.K., Benelux and France and 27 April in the United States. It is co-directed by Jeff Newitt and co-produced with Sony Pictures Animation.

 Acclaimed French director Patrice Leconte ("Ridicule", "Tandem") comes back to Cartoon Movie to show twenty minutes of his first animated feature, The Suicide Shop (read more about the film here)  Using an original 2D stereoscopic technique, close to pop-up books, the film will hit French screens on the 16 May 2012.

The Suicide Shop is produced by Diabolo Films in co-production with France's La Petite Reine and ARP Sélection, and Belgium's Entre Chien et Loup.

Already 650 participants - including a record number of 100 distributors from 23 countries - have confirmed their attendance at Cartoon Movie. About 50 animated feature projects will be pitched to find financing and distributors from 7-9 March in Lyon.
