Visegrad Animation Forum 2015, Czech Republic: Call for entries

Visegrad Animation Forum 2015 is calling for submissions, now extends deadline to 14 February 2015.


Visegrad Animation Forum (VAF) will take place from 6 to 8 May 2015 during Anifilm International Film Festival in Třeboň, Czech Republic.


VAF was initiated by animators associations from Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and MOME Fine Arts Academy in Budapest and newly joined by Slovenian association of animators.


VAF aims at supporting and boosting Central and East European underdeveloped animation industry through facilitating co-production activity and networking.


VAF's goals are fulfilled through two main activities - organisation of a 3-day pitching forum held during Anifilm International Film Festival in Trebon -

Czech Republic where Cent. and East European animators with projects of short films and TV series are presented in front of the main European broadcasters, producers and buyers.


The second activity encompases international promotion of VAF projects at big European markets and festivals - Annecy/MIFA, Cartoon Forum, Stuttgart, Krakow Anima&Etiuda.


The Visegrad Animation Forum accepts projects into the biggest competition of animated short films and TV series concepts in the making in Central and Eastern Europe. 


Among the eligibility criteria, the following are included:

  • short animated film projects should be less than 20 min. long, without genre limits;
  • animated TV series projects have no limits as for genre or length;
  • project means an animated film/series that is in development, i.e. at least in the phase of a theme, screenplay and artistic conception, storyboard at the best;
  • an animated project is a project in which at least 50% of a film being considered must be realized in animation film technology or in the form of multimedia audiovisual work pointing out graphical aspect.

The awards are the following:

  • Czech Television Award for the best TV series project – with a free TUTORING of your project by an international TV expert;
  • VAF Award for the best short project: 2,000 EUR for following development.

The submission deadline for all projects is 8 February 2015. 14 February 2014.

The entry fee is 20 EUR per person for professionals (students - free), while the submission fee is 100 EUR for a TV series project. For a short film project, no entry fee is required.

VAF will cover accommodation costs of 2 participants per project for the whole 3 days programme of workshops, lectures, presentations and networking activities.
