Animasyros 8.0 Advances Agora, Invites Call for Entries

animasyros8-2015-550The Syros animation fest  introduces Agora (Market) for its September (24-27) edition, and hosts Japan as a guest country.


 The Greek animation fest that takes place each September in the island of Syros launches its Agora (Greek for Market) to further augment its professonial forum as an activity space for network all animation professionals in various activities, including work-in-progress presentations.


Japan is scheduled to be this year's honored country, whereas more than 200 animated films will get screen in the Aegean island  during Animasyros 8.0 (24-27 September 2015).


Secret screening events, the relation of animation to dance and poetry, and European animation festival presentations are to crown this year's AnimaSyros.


The festival strenghtens its ties with ASIFA, with its president Vassilis Karamitsanis also being elected as ASIFA-Hellas president. Separate ASIFA programmes from Austria and various educational workshops (including workshops for persons with disability) are to complement the festival's activities.


The official selection includes two distinct competitive sections for professional and student shorts, two out-of-competition panoramas (Greek + International), retrospectives and tributes to well-established animators.


Films completed in 2013, 2014 and 2015 are eligible to participate.


A new section is planned at this year's Animasyros for feature films, as a pilot to develop a special competitive section, and the establishment of "Agora" aspires to create even more networking and business opportunities among AnimaSyros' visiting professionals.

Animasyros 8.0 takes place between 24 and 27 September in Hermoupolis, Syros, Greece. Various festival activities will stream live.
