45 animated short films to compete at the 2012 Oscars

Among the qualifying films, there is Luna (Pixar) and The Ballad of Nessie (Disney). Still, the vast amount of candidates come from the independent sector in Europe and US.

There is the multiply awarded and absurd The External World (David O' Reilly, Irelnd/Germany), the Pablo Zaramello film in pixillation, Luminaris, Paths of Hate (Damien Nenow, Poland, and the Almodovarish Vincenta by the Spanish SAM (Orti).

10 films out of 45 will make the short list, and the final 5 nominees will be revealed on January 13, 2012.
