2022 Festival Coverage

2020 Festival Coverage

Between July 6th and 12th, the Bilborock Venue will host the fourth edition of the Bilbao International Animation Community Festival, ANIMAKOM FEST, with daily sessions from 7pm.

With a schedule of more than 120 short films in four competitive sections (professional, students, basque short films, and animated music videos), ANIMAKOM FEST had to postpone its celebration, initially planned to be held in April, due to the state of alarm.

As the main act, on Monday 6th, the Animakom Award will be delivered to the filmmaker Nina Paley in recognition of her career at an online ceremony due to Nina’s impossibility to get to the festival, projecting all her works online and in the venue, including the feature films “Sita Sings The Blues” and “Seder-Masochism”.

In addition to the screenings, the schedule will be completed with two exclusive masterclasses: on Friday 10th about the multi-awarded feature film “Klaus” from one of its animators, Juan Luis González, and on Saturday 11th a special one dedicated to the successful Netflix series “BoJack Horseman” with the online presence of its directors Amy Winfrey and Peter Merryman, and the screening of the episode “Free Churro”.

ANIMAKOM FEST is a festival organized by Asociación Develop with the collaboration of the production companies Abrakam Estudio and Media Attack and promoted by Bilboko Udala, Diputación Foral de Bizkaia, Fundación SGAE, Laboral Kutxa, Mondragon Unibertsitatea and Escuela de Cine del País Vasco - ECPV.
