For Animation Filmmakers:
For Animation and Film Festivals & Events Professionals
BEST AUSTRIAN ANIMATION is a competition program, curated in 2021 by Sabine Groschup, Laura Egger-Karlegger and Thomas Renoldner. In 2011 it was organised for the fist time at the ONE DAY ANIMATION FESTIVAL in Vienna – so we celebrate it's 10 YEARS ANNIVERSARY. The festival was founded already in October 2005 by Thomas Renoldner and organised since then under the umbrella of ASIFA Austria, and was expanded to the 2 DAYS ANIMATION FESTIVAL in 2017.
The basic idea of the Vienna animation festival is to serve as a space for animation students, independent artists, studios and production companies to meet, to discover, to exchange, to enjoy animated films on the big cinema screen, to develop new projects, and celebrate.
Another important intention of the festival is to give an annual overview about the relevant production of Austrian animation, and to present the very rich variety of what animation can be: films produced by students, professionals and commercial studios; from narrative to experimental; from analog to digital and including all only thinkable artistic intentions and personal and general contents.
This year, the festival extends to a 2 Week Online Run.
