The Bulgarian short animated film Tasks of the Day, produced by Compote Collective, will qualify for the 2020 Academy Awards.

Bulgarian short animated film Tasks of the Day, directed by Petya Zlateva, produced by Compote Collective, impressed the international jury members Ali Asgari, Katya Trichkova and Sandy Lieberson and won the Best National Film Award at ‘In The Palace’ short film festival, which qualified the film for Oscar® contenders for the category Short Animation Film. This is an opportunity that very few Bulgarian short films have, as on national level only one feature length film is submitted to consideration at the American Film Academy.

A short visual poem, designed, animated and directed by Petya Zlateva, in which the main heroine is looking for escape from solitude in the routine of daily tasks. Instead of getting her life in order, she discovers madness and chaos, which overwhelm her.

The elegant symbiosis of text-poetry, voice-music and drawn animation builds the language of the film, based on the poem with the same title by the writer Stefan Ivanov. The film is a story about the escape from loneliness, the quiet madness and the hidden chaos in routine daily tasks, a condition that anyone can identify with. This five-minute film is part of the animated poetry film project Mark & Verse vol2, based on a poem by Stefan Ivanov, produced by Compote Collective.
