Green Wave: the new war documentary-animation

The Green Wave refers to the 2009 Iranian presidential campaign of Mir-Hossein Mousavi, and his director wants the bloody aftermath of this movement for democracy in Iran to be faithfully recorded. e has conducted live-action interviews with the main actors of the event, but decided to use animation to bring the haunting effect that Waltz with Bashir so forcefully imposed.

Ahazi brought to prominence (along with Oliver Stoltz) the story of kidnapped children who became soldiers in Uganda in his film Lost Children.

The art director Ali Soozandeh is responsible for the film's visual feel. Green Wave was screened at this year's Sundance and IDFA film festivals. It made its theatrical debut  in Germany, and now opens in New York.
