Event Description

Next Lab is an initiative that integrates a workshop, an event and a digital platform; created and organized by Paramotion Films (creators and organizers of Weird Market and Quirino Awards), with the main sponsorship of the Community of Madrid and the collaboration of Annecy MIFA, Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Market (France).

This first year it focuses on the use of VR, XR and AR tools together with the use of video game rendering engines for the prototyping and production of animation and VFX. In addition to the workshop, the event and the platform, online conferences will be organized and research articles will be published.

2022 Call for Entries

Next Lab, the initiative that connects art and technology in the animation and digital content industry, will be held again in Madrid in early 2022 and will feature a workshop, an event and an online platform.

The workshop will focus on the application of creative tools within the virtual environment to improve creative and productive processes, and the final result will be an animated piece as a teaser for each participating project. In the subsequent event, which will be held on February 25th and 26th in Madrid, the ten projects selected for the second phase will present their teaser and a jury will select the two winners that will be presented during Annecy MIFA 2022 and will have a free accreditation.

In addition, DeAPlaneta Entertainment will select and support one of the animation projects participating in the Next Lab workshop, which will have a complementary 3 months of mentoring with international experts to develop the IP, in addition to a co-development contract for a value of €6,000

To participate, it is essential to have an animation project or a live action project with extensive use of animation or VFX, regardless of the format.

From this call, a group of projects will be selected, with a minimum visual development, which will receive advice on how to be produced, applying R + D + i, extensive knowledge of the market and the latest technology.
