Terry Pratchett & The Animation Hub prepare The Duel

FilmIreland reports that Sir Terry Pratchett (who is also an Adjunct Professor of English at Trinity College, Dublin) will work on an animated short project (character and story development) in Ireland. The Duel will feature a fantasy adventure university in the Unseen University of Terry Pratchett's Discworld.

The film engages both staff and students from prestigious animation schools in Ireland (Irish School of Animation, Trinity College Dublin's Creative Arts, Technology and Culture) and the Giant Creative studio -The Animation Hub collaboration.

Terry Pratchett states: "The Duel is something new from something old – Discworld is being borrowed by our students in the Animation Hub to produce a wholly new adventure – where some familiar elements from our world will appear, but not quite as we know them".

The film is funded by the Irish Film Board, Trinity College Dublin and Ballyfermot College of Further Education and will premiere in early 2013, as part of the Tercentenary Celebrations of Trinity College’s Old Library. The Animation Hub's previous output was the train horror comedy, The Last Train.
