StopTrik International Film Festival 2025

Festival Description:
StopTrik IFF is a festival and community that celebrates the amazing film art of stop-motion animation. We appreciate the works made in traditional techniques of three-dimensional hand-made animation but we are also excited to discover experimental, mixed and hybrid forms. Whether you are a professional, student, or an enthusiast, you are more than welcome to share your films with our Audience – the best and most valuable juror that decides about the festival's Grand Prix. We show the Competition and Panorama programmes in Slovenia and whenever possible, we support the authors' participation in the Festival. Once you're on StopTrik please get ready for marathon-watching of the most brilliant recent and historical stop motion films, several discussions about art, craft, life, politics and whatever you wish to talk about, workshops of stop motion filmmaking, morning urban walks, afternoon vegan lunches, late-night dances, and 24/7 stop motion passion!
2025 Call for Entries
The Festival is looking for stop motion and experimental animated shorts (max. 30 min) which are fresh in style, innovative in storytelling, outstanding in visual form, playful or dramatic, politically engaged, philosophically contemplative, purely abstract, or simply hilarious. The festival is eager to consider professional productions, student films, music videos and commissioned films as well as the works of enthusiasts without any prior professional training in animation.
StopTrik Official selection consists in competitive programmes (Stop Motion; Borderlands - for experimental works; Stop Motion for Children) and a non-competitive section Panorama. Films that only partially use stop motion but mix it with other animation techniques and / or combine with live-action are also eligible for submission. All competitive programmes are concluded with audience voting. Georgian animation director Ana Chubinidze is responsible for the 2025 StopTrik visual identity.
Submitted works should be made after January 1, 2023.
