Annecy Special Prizes 2024: 'Flow', 'The Meatseller', 'Hello Summer'
Some familiar names, like the veteran French director Florence Miailhe, the Latvian director Gints Zilbalodis (Away, Flow) and the Czech Martin Smatana (The Kite) were awarded at the Annecy Festival's Special prizes, one day before the main award ceremony.
Special prizes come from the festival's partner, and they honor either French artistry, films overall or specific aspects of the animation filmmaking. Music (for both short and a feature film) is awarded in this section, as well as films for young audiences.
Margherita Giusti, whose film 'The Meatseller' found its way on our Top2023 animation shorts, was also awarded by the City of Annecy Award. Gints Zilbalodis was awarded as a composer (along with Rihards Zalupe) for his feature animation 'Flow (read our review).
